When 8-year-old Kati stows away in her father's delivery van, Faruk must juggle his responsibilities as a single dad while holding down his first job in a new country. As their relationship deepens, a brush with covert racism tests the bond between a father and daughter.

About the Artist

Born in Afghanistan and raised in Germany, Zamarin Wahdat  attended NYU Tisch School of the Arts Graduate film program as a Dean’s Fellow.

Her work as a cinematographer has screened at Sundance, Berlinale, SXSW & Tribeca and she contributed camerawork to the Academy Award-winning short documentary LEARNING TO SKATEBOARD IN  WARZONE (IF YOU'RE A GIRL).

 

Her first short as director, BAMBIRAK,  received the Sundance Short Film Jury Award for International Fiction and was supported by the HFPA. She is the recipient of the Nestor Almendros Award for outstanding cinematography and was selected for the American Society of Cinematographer’s Vision Mentorship Program in 2020/21.

 

Zamarin just finished shooting the documentary feature, I AM SARAH (dir. Charlie Feldman), about Syrian swimmer and activist Sarah Mardini. She is a member of the IFCF (International Collective of Female Cinematographers) and Free the Work.
